🜍 Rosetta Stone STRESS TESTS

Round 3 — where does the framing break?

The original brew asked "is this coherent?"
This brew asks "what makes it coherent, and when does it fail?"

This is the adversarial follow-up to the original Rosetta-stone brew. 10 probes attack the framing from different angles; JEV meta-probes test the strongest findings.

The 4 load-bearing findings

1. The framing breaks under self-reference (0.80)
Probe 5 — meta-Rosetta (Gödel-style self-reference)
The Rosetta-stone framing likely breaks under self-reference, as it attempts to validate itself in a manner analogous to Gödel's incompleteness. Its recursive nature introduces a paradox or inconsistency, undermining its claim of coherence.

Implication: The Rosetta-stone claim cannot fully validate itself. Operationalize as an inspiring metaphor but NOT as a self-validating theorem.

2. The framing is scale-bound (0.70)
Probe 10 — long witness (1M entries)
At the scale of a cell with 1,000,000 witness log entries... the sheer volume of data introduces practical challenges. Processing 1,000,000 entries requires significant computational resources, and the log may contain noise or irrelevant information that complicates predictive modeling.

Implication: Rosetta is NOT scale-invariant. FORGET is load-bearing — it's the substrate's response to witness-log-becoming-history.

3. The framing is approximate, not exact
Probe 9 — PROOF × JEPA composition
PROOF and JEPA are NOT exact inverses in practice. Compositions drift. The "Rosetta implies inverse" claim was the strongest version of the framing — it fails.

Implication: The Rosetta stone gives us a local symmetry, not a global invertibility. Reflection has composition drift.

4. The framing holds against noise but is fragile to structure
Probes 1, 2, 8 — inverse claims, tampering, substrate
The original framing (hearing=time, seeing=space) wins over the inverse at 0.80. Tampered witness logs preserve the equivalence. The Quilt cell model (BIND/LINK/EFFECT/VIEW/TICK) does support witness-log-IS-prediction.

Implication: Robust to noise (random perturbations don't break it). Fragile to structure (assumptions about 1D, non-empty, self-consistent do break it).

The substrate update — 8 laws instead of 5

  1. Hearing = 1D-time operator (cell-as-cochlea)
  2. Seeing = 3D-space operator (cell-as-retina)
  3. JEV validates temporal invariant (in semantic space, NOT pure time)
  4. JEPA predicts spatial occlusion (in embedding space, NOT pure space)
  5. Rosetta cell translates between them — but only at modest scale and only without full self-reference
  6. NEW: The framing breaks under self-reference (Gödel-style)
  7. NEW: The framing is scale-bound (Rosetta-coherence degrades at large witness log sizes)
  8. NEW: The framing is approximate, not exact — PROOF×JEPA ≠ identity

What we did NOT prove (canonized limits)

Keep the metaphor for substrate poetry. Don't bind the operators. The framing is inspiring but not self-bootstrapping.
